That spring a set of puppies had took up at our house. Mostly our fault that the dogs took up home here. We would see them wondering our country back road and call for them. I was so scared they would get hit. In the many times, Big Head and Spot as we called them, playing in our yard they ate a couple things. One just happened to be our dried out gourds. Them poor gourds never had a chance and were busted all to pieces. In cleaning up the mess that day Branden found the "guts" of the gourds and just tossed'em into the flower bed. A few weeks later I noticed unfamilar plants starting to sprout in the flower bed.
Fast forward a few months. The plant got moved to my Pawpaw and Mammaw's garden and created pretty gourds. In the transplanting of the gourd plants I had to grow more garden items. I grew up with a garden so I knew the ends and outs, I don't think Branden was as prepared. It's really the only thing I LOVE about Summer.
Here are a couple pictures from the garden this past summer...
The Apple Gourd Plants Little Brother helping out Sunflowers
The apple gourds, we grew, go well with our fall arrangment. We had plenty to share and so we did with grandparents, my parents and Branden's mom.
Last night we decided that if we were gonna carve a pumpkin, for our fall scene, we better get to it. Branden and I got out all our supplies and went to it. The weather outside hasn't been pleasant, thanks to hurricane Sandy, so we took up shop in our living room. We are no where near pumpkin carving experts but this is what we got.
And you have it, our pumpkin. An "H" for our last name and a deer print! I also got a little something for next year.
Seeds, lots and lots of seeds!!!
Happy Halloween Ya'll!
Watch out for the little Ghost and Goblins....
